Sell documents with WooCommerce

Requires WooCommerce. Buyers read the document online — there is no file to forward, and with Secure Mode the file itself can't be shared.

Set up a product#

1. Edit (or create) a product and open the Foliora document tab in the Product data box.
2. Select the document this product sells and click Use this document.
3. Set Free preview pages (PDF only).
4. Choose Show on product page:
   • In a “Preview” tab
   • Below the product summary
   • Not on the product page (My Account only)
5. Keep Protect the file so it cannot be opened from its public URL ticked and update the product.
6. For PDFs, go to Foliora → Access, open the document and click Build preview.

Buyers of this product can read the whole document online; everyone else gets the preview.

What buyers get#

• My Account → Documents — every document they bought, one click to read. Before a purchase it says “You have no documents yet.”
• Order emails — a “Read online:” link for each document.
• The product page shows the full document instead of the preview once they own it.

Subscriptions and memberships#

• WooCommerce Subscriptions: an active subscription is required; when it ends, the reader is back to the preview.
• WooCommerce Memberships, MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro: use access rules with “Members of a plan”.
