Installing Foliora and Foliora Pro
Install the free plugin from WordPress.org, then add Foliora Pro and activate your licence.
On this page
Install Foliora (free)#
- In your dashboard open Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- Search for Foliora, then click Install Now and Activate.
- You land on Foliora → Dashboard with a short setup checklist.
Prefer a manual install? Download the zip from WordPress.org, upload the foliora folder to /wp-content/plugins/ and activate it on the Plugins screen.
Install Foliora Pro#
Foliora Pro is an add-on. Keep Foliora (free) active — Pro extends it and does nothing on its own.
- Download
foliora-pro.zipfrom your customer account after purchase. - Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now.
- Click Activate. New screens appear under the Foliora menu: Pro Settings, Protected Links, Access, Analytics, Hotspots and Document categories.
- Open Foliora → Pro Settings → License to see which features your licence includes.
Updating#
The free plugin updates from WordPress.org like any other plugin. Update Foliora Pro from the Plugins screen when an update is offered, or upload the new zip from your account (WordPress asks to replace the current version). Settings, saved embeds, analytics and protected files are kept across updates.
What activation changes#
- Foliora adds one option (
foliora_settings) and a private post type for saved embeds. - Foliora Pro creates its own database tables for analytics and leads on activation.
- Nothing is sent to any server. See Privacy & data.
Uninstalling#
Deactivating keeps everything. Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes its data:
- Foliora removes its settings, saved embeds, Foliora post and user meta and the thumbnails it generated. Your PDFs and other media stay.
- Foliora Pro moves every protected file back to its original folder, then drops its tables, links and settings. Reading progress and bookmarks in user meta are kept.
Deactivating Pro without deleting it leaves protected files protected. On Apache their Media Library URLs stay blocked until Pro is active again.
