A protected link is a standalone page — /foliora-link/{token}/ — that shows one document in the Foliora viewer. Send it to a client, a board or a class, and turn it off whenever you like.

  1. Open Foliora → Protected Links.
  2. Select a document from the Media Library (PDF or EPUB).
  3. Fill in the options below and save. The share URL appears right away — copy it.

Options#

OptionNotes
Label / recipiente.g. “Board members”. Shown in the list and available as {recipient} in the watermark.
PasswordOptional. Changing or removing it signs out everyone who already unlocked the link.
ExpiryOptional date and time (site timezone).
View limitOptional. Each browser counts once every 12 hours, so reloading does not use up views.
Download the file / PrintOff by default for every link.
Ask for emailOptional, PDF only — show the lead form before a page. Lead capture
Protect the source filePuts the file in Secure Mode so its public URL stops working and it can only be reached while the link is valid.

If the file stays at its public Media Library URL, anyone with that URL can skip the password and limits. Files that are not in the Media Library cannot be protected — then the password and limits protect the share page only.

  • Edit — change the password, limits or permissions; the share URL stays the same.
  • Turn off / on — visitors see “Link disabled” while it is off. History is kept.
  • Delete — removes the link and its view history for good.
  • Recent views — time, anonymised IP and browser; the last 50 counted views are kept.

Protected links skip access rules and the “logged-in only” setting — the link itself is the permission.
