Is the free plugin really complete?#
Yes. The viewer, all four view modes including the 3D flipbook, themes, the library, searchable PDF text, accessibility and the page-builder widgets are free with no locked features. Pro is a separate add-on for protecting, measuring and selling documents.
Are my documents sent to another server?#
No. PDF.js ships inside the plugin and runs in the visitor's browser. Your files are served by your own site. See Privacy & data.
Shortcode or block — which should I use?#
They produce the same viewer. Use the block for its file picker and preview; use the shortcode in the classic editor, widgets, builders and templates.
Can I stop people downloading my PDF?#
The free plugin hides the download and print buttons (download="false" print="false"), but the file URL is still public. Pro's Secure Mode makes the public URL stop working, serves the file only through expiring signed links, adds locks and a personal watermark. No web viewer can prevent screenshots.
Does it work with WPML or Polylang?#
Yes — translated Media Library PDFs are swapped in per language. See Multilingual.
Can I read EPUB files?#
With Foliora Pro. The free plugin focuses on PDF. See EPUB reader.
Can I sell documents?#
With Pro: through WooCommerce (including Subscriptions), or for members of MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro and WooCommerce Memberships with access rules. Non-buyers get a real preview of the first pages.
Are analytics GDPR-friendly?#
Pro analytics use no cookies, respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control, ignore bots and administrators, count logged-out readers with a value that changes daily, and purge old data automatically.
What happens when my Pro licence expires?#
Protection keeps working: protected files stay protected and paid documents never unlock. Renew to keep updates, support and editing of Pro features.
Does it slow my site down?#
Scripts load only on pages with a viewer, from your own server. Turn on lazy loading so viewers below the fold start only when scrolled to.
Where do I get help?#
The WordPress.org support forum for the free plugin; your customer account for Pro. Bugs can be reported on GitHub.
