Auto-embed pasted links and attachment pages
Turn a pasted .pdf link into a viewer, and show the viewer on PDF attachment pages.
Paste a link, get a viewer#
Paste a direct link to a PDF on its own line in the block or classic editor:
https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/price-list.pdf
Foliora registers an embed handler for URLs that end in .pdf (a query string after it is fine) and replaces the line with a viewer that uses your site defaults.
- Turn it on or off: Foliora → Settings → Search and sharing → Direct PDF auto-embed (on by default).
- The link must be alone on its line. A link inside a sentence stays a normal link.
- Need different options? Use the shortcode instead.
Viewer on attachment pages#
WordPress gives every uploaded file an attachment page. With Foliora → Settings → Search and sharing → Attachment pages turned on, PDF attachment pages show the Foliora viewer instead of a plain link.
Since WordPress 6.4, new sites redirect attachment pages to the file itself. If you rely on attachment pages, make sure they are enabled on your site.
