The PDF cover as share image#

When a post or page embeds a Foliora PDF that has a first-page thumbnail, Foliora prints Open Graph and Twitter image tags using that cover — so a shared link shows the document instead of a blank card.

  • Turn it on or off: Foliora → Settings → Search and sharing → Social preview.
  • Thumbnails are created on Docs & Features.

If an SEO plugin is active — Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress, All in One SEO, Slim SEO, The SEO Framework, Schema Pro or Schema & Structured Data for WP — Foliora leaves social tags to it and prints none of its own.

DigitalDocument schema#

For each PDF embedded on a single post or page (and on PDF attachment pages), Foliora prints Schema.org DigitalDocument JSON-LD with the name, URL, format and — when known — the number of pages, thumbnail and description.

{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "DigitalDocument",
  "name": "Annual Report 2026",
  "url": "https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/annual-report.pdf",
  "encodingFormat": "application/pdf",
  "numberOfPages": 64
}

Change or remove it per document with the foliora/schema_digital_document filter.

Crawlers without JavaScript#

Every viewer includes a plain “Open / Download PDF directly” link, so search engines and visitors without JavaScript can still reach the file.
